چکیده

Cephanone is less active against gram-positive organisms but is more active against Escherichia coli than cephalothin. Activity against Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis and Salmonella is similar to cephalothin. Some Enterobacter strains are"susceptible to 8//g/ml or less. Cephanone is relatively resistant to hydrolysis by gram-negative beta-lactamases. It is not a competitive inhibitor of the hydrolysis of penicillins by beta-lactamases. 153

In vitro antibacterial activity of SM-1652, a new broad-spectrum cephalosporin with antipseudomonal activity.

SM-1652 (sodium 7-[D(-)-alpha-(4-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine-3-carboxamido)-alpha-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetamido]-3-[(1-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl) thiomethyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylate) is a new semisynthetic cephalosporin derivative with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Its in vitro activity against gram-positive bacteria was comparable to that of cefazolin. SM-1652 exceeded cefazolin in potenc...

Biological properties of three 3-heterocyclic-thiomethyl cephalosporin antibiotics.

Three new cephalosporin antibiotics, prepared by substitution of heterocyclic groups on 7-aminocephalosporanic acid, possess certain desirable chemical or biological properties. All three compounds are active in vitro against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of these bactericidal antibiotics were not significantly affected by changes...

In vitro Antibacterial Evaluation of Newly Synthesized Heterocyclic Compounds Against Streptococcus Pneumoniae

In recent years, the spread of drug-resistant strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae, as the most common causes of bacterial respiratory infections, threatens public health. Therefore, the use of new antimicrobial medicines to inhibit this pathogen is an urgent demand. In this research project, the inhibitory effects of thirty recently synthesized compounds including thiazole, thiazolidine, imidaz...

Adult Volunteers

Five volunteers received intramuscular injections of 7 mg (approximately 500 mg) of cephanone, a new cephalosporin for parenteral use per kg. Peak serum concentrations averaged 36 jig/ml, about four times as high as with the same doses of cephalothin, twice as high as with cephaloridine, and slightly lower than with cefazolin. With a constant intravenous infusion of 100 mg/h, a steady-state ser...
